Just how cool are
the Sabres under new owner Terry Pagula? The Buffalo Sabres are feeling the impact of the MSG blackout occuring in the homes of many fans around the
Western New York Area. In order to assist
in the viewing of Sabres games while the team is away from home, the team has decided to open its doors with the hopes of
luring fans to the foot of Washington Street for than 41 times a year. First Niagara Center will be transformed from a dark and looming giant on Friday night as
the Sabres visit the Carolina Hurricanes for the third battle of the teams this season
into a living room like and in game atmosphere, giving fans a chance to view and cheer on the Buffalo Sabres. It might help
the team if they can pump some of the energy that will be in the arena and show the team the passion the fans have into the
visitors locker room at the RBC Center in Raleigh. Fans will enjoy free admission and free parking in the arena parking ramp for the event. Concessions will be opened
on a limited basis with discounted food and beverages throughout the arena. The first 3,000 fans will receive vouchers for
free Coca-Cola products and popcorn. If
nothing more, the Buffalo Sabres are reaching out to their fans even more, and even helping the local economy by extending
jobs to those people who might not have work on a night when the team is out of town. The game will be broadcast on the First Niagara Center’s High Definition
Video Board, which will be lowered to a centralized – more comfortable viewing height. Hopefully the event is a success in the regular season and the organization
continues to open the doors to the arena when it is available to the viewing public, giving fans who might not be able to
see the games from home. The Buffalo Sabres
have done this for away playoff games, as well as at the Coca-Cola field during the Stanley Cup run, giving more fans the
opportunity to band together and show their support for the team. Doors to the arena will open at 6 PM, and fans in attendance will also be able to visit the Sabres
store, which will have extended hours to satisfy the hopeful throng of people attending the “game”. Doug Allen
will be present to sing the National Anthems, the Kiss Cam will make an appearance, as well as appearances by the t-shirt
toss team, and other in games contests.January's Schedule
